Brevard Middle School PTO to host race

Brevard Middle School will host a race on Friday, April 12. The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is putting on the race as a fundraiser. The race is primarily targeted toward middle school students, although some community members have also signed up. Nearly 100 people have signed up to participate in all.

The race will take place at 3:30 pm and the course goes around Brevard Middle School. Runners will go behind the school, where there are many wooded trails, run down in front of the road in front of the school, and on finally on the paved bike trail.

Not only will the event be a traditional road and trail race, but will also have a popular addition: colored, powdered paint. The teachers will throw colored paint on the runners before the start of the race, something that, according to PTO president and teacher Donna Hoover, the teachers are greatly looking forward to.

According to Hoover, The PTO decided to host the race because it was a break from the traditional dances that they usually hold. Hoover said,“It’s a way for the students to have fun, but it is also a little healthier.”
