Eighth graders to visit Brevard High School

By Catherine Lemel

Next week a few unfamiliar faces will be popping up around campus as the Brevard Middle School eighth grade class will come to experience Brevard High School. Part of the point of their trip is to get a feel for where they will be spending their next four years in schools.

Guidance counselor Stacy Seefeldt said that the eighth graders will be touring Wednesday, May 8 after the Transylvania County Integration Celebration. She said that she, along with guidance counselor Hallie Thoele, set up the tour because they felt like it was a good way to get the eighth graders to get to know the high school.

Seefeldt also said that high school students will assist with the tour by serving as tour guides and as classroom presenters. She said that the high school students that are serving as the classroom presenters will be students who have taken a lot of courses in that particular elective area.

Seefeldt also said that this should not interfere with the schedules of high schoolers not participating in the event. She said, “Most of the tour will occur during SMART lunch so it should not interrupt the schedule and the visiting students will be eating lunch after all the high schoolers have eaten.”

Seefeldt said, “It is one more opportunity for them to learn a little more about the variety of programs that we offer here at Brevard High.
