PLAN Testing

By: Katie Russell

PLAN testing starts tomorrow for most sophomore students at Brevard High School. According to the State Superintendent, June Atkinson,

“The PLAN Test assessment marks another step forward in our efforts to better prepare all students for college or to enter the workforce.”

The PLAN test consists of four sections, English, Reading, Mathematics, and Science. Each of these sections are a compilation of questions based on what students have been taught up to their sophomore year in high school.

This test will not affect a student’s Grade Point Average, but it is an evaluation on what your strengths and weaknesses are as a student. It provides students with career options that are best suited to their strengths, as well as their interests.

Many Students are stressed out about this test so here are a few helpful tips:

  1. Get a good night’s sleep- It’s very important to be well rested

  2. Be sure to eat a good breakfast- The test may go all the way through lunch time, and students should be able to focus without getting super hungry

  3. Be at school on time- Be at school no later than 8:05- The sooner the administrators can start the test the sooner it will be over

  4. Relax- This test does not affect a person’s GPA, just provides them with a better understanding of their academic strengths and weaknesses

Good luck, Devils!
