Brevard and the outer reaching community has access to some of the most amazing forests and cute shops. With miles of trails and sights, the options for entertainment are infinite.

However, a lot of the people in the community can’t access these sites easily. Some new plans for the local bike path, formally know as the Brevard Greenway, will hopefully help with that.

“Overall, the plan for the greenway is to connect the citizens from all corners of Brevard with downtown and places like the Bracken Preserve, Pisgah National Forest, and ideally some regional destinations in the long term.” said Daniel Cobb, who works in planning at the City of Brevard.

There are even more plans to add bike lanes and walking lanes on paved parts of the path, as well as on some unpaved trails. Cobb also said, “Another major goal is to have as many citizens connected to the schools and camps within the city limits as possible. The more we can encourage and promote bike and pedestrian usage throughout the city, the more we can increase our quality of life and sense of place.”

For more information visit the City of Brevard website (www.citybrevard.com) and make sure to check out the Brevard Greenway/Bike Path sometime soon to get out and explore the environment in which we live.
