Halloween is over, which means the countdown to Christmas has begun.  A Christmas musical depicting the events of a small Alaskan town during the Christmas time was performed on November 14th at the Dunham Music Center on the Brevard College campus.

This one-time-only event was directed by former Brevard High School drama and chorus teacher, Mary Beth Shumate.

The cast list includes many Brevard residents.  The local “celebrities” include Sarah Moser, Brevard Elementary music teacher, Bart Gilleland, Brevard High School’s choral teacher, Andy Thompson, a music theatre major at WCU, and Blake Anthony Elledge, a recent Brevard College graduate who performs with the Asheville Lyric Opera.

“This show includes an amazing cross section of our ‘village’ to create the magical but real Alaskan village in the story,” said Shumate. “It is very much a pleasure to be working with this diverse group of highly talented local people.”

Proceeds from the show benefitted The Sharing House.
