By Jody Alexander

“Bye Bye Birdie” was originally performed in 1960 on Broadway as a satire on American society at the time and was later made into the 1963 film fans know and love.

It’s about a wildly famous rock and roll icon named Conrad Birdie, who gets drafted into the Army, leaving his songwriter and manager, Albert Peterson, scrambling for a way to cash in one last time.

Peterson and Rose Alverez, his secretary and long-suffering girlfriend, hatch a plan to have Birdie perform a new song “One Last Kiss” in front of his fans before giving one special fan One Last Kiss of her own during his big send off. Unfortunately for Albert, things don’t quite go according to plan.

The newly chosen cast of Brevard High Schools very own Spring Musical production of “Bye Bye Birdie” give us a peek into what to expect from their characters.
