What is the White Squirrel Festival you may ask. In Brevard there is a huge population of white squirrels.

Every year on Memorial Day Weekend Brevard hold their White Squirrel Festival to celebrate the unique squirrels. The festival kicks off Friday night at 5:30 p.m. and goes throughout the weekend.

According to The White Squirrel Festival’s web page “Two and a half days of family fun include special events and sales in our downtown shops; a street festival with kids activities, arts and craft booths, great food; the Squirrel Box Derby; the White Squirrel 5K, 10K, and Fun Run; a Veteran’s Memorial parade and wreath presentation organized by the American Legion, and so much more to do!”

Don’t just come out and enjoy the White Squirrel Festival, come out and see Brevard High School’s JROTC.

“During The White Squirrel Festival and The Memorial Day parade the ROTC program will be marching through town in one accompany, which means we’re all going to be in one formation” says Damien LaForenza.

“We are doing this to get the ROTC program out there and to honor the soldier for Memorial Day weekend.” says LaForenza.
