Cross Country Girls Go To State Championships

On Saturday, October 29th, the BHS women’s cross country team qualified for state at regionals. The women’s team got second place. In first place was Lake Norman, the team’s nemesis. Lake Norman won by 4 points.

“We’re glad that Lake Norman got first, because then they will act all cocky and think that they are going to win, but then we will come up and beat them, ” cross country team member Lillie Siniard said. The whole team is very confident that they will beat Lake Norman.

“It’s really rewarding feeling when you beat someone you’ve been training to beat all summer,” cross country team member Emma Dauster said.

They have been working hard with the goal of state competition in mind all year.

“It’s been a long road getting here so it’s exciting to see what’s going to happen,” said Eliza Witherspoon.

The team has been putting in 35-55 miles a week. They have been training since the end of May to prepare.
