On Saturday November 5, 2016 the Women’s Cross Country team traveled to Kernersville. They were traveling to compete at the 2A State Championships. The team had a lot of weight on their shoulders, for they were trying to take home the State title for the second year in a row.
That day they did take home the State title, winning by 35 points, with Smokey Mountain in second.
The team consisted of (from when they crossed the finish line) Eliza Witherspoon, Ava Findlay, Lillie Siniard, Julia Smith, Alyssa Lefler, Alydia Monhan, and Emma Dauster. With Madeline Dierauf, Anna Schrader, and Dominique Karesh serving as the alternates. In honor of their huge success the Women’s team were going to get rings. The ceremony was held on Thursday February 16, 2017.
“We all deserved the rings, we all put in the effort and time, and we really put the motto ‘team before self’ in every race,” sophomore Emma Dauster said.
The ceremony honored everyone who was on the Women’s team, as well as individual State winner Noah Graham.
“Everyone definitely deserved getting rings, we all worked so hard to get where we are now as a team,” freshman Madeline Dierauf said.
Great job to everyone who was on the team!
