FFA- Horse Judging Competition

By Nyx Siniard

Last weekend the FFA horse judging team traveled to Saint Andrews University for the state FFA horse judging competition. The students also got a chance to compete for the state 4-H competition. The Senior team, in the FFA competition, placed third out of twenty-five teams, and the junior team placed third out of 17 teams.

“In 4-H, the Senior team took second overall, and those members consisted of: Abby Gant, Hannah Lemel, Courtney Meyer, and Bella Styber,” said Sarah Rhymer, a CTE teacher. “Our Junior team  consisted of: Julia Smith, Ashley Ramer, and Jada Simmons-Miller.”

At the competition the students had to judge 10 different classes and give 4 reasons.

“Some of the classes include: halter classes, walking horses, hunters, sportsmanship, ranch riding, and reigning classes,” said junior, Julia Smith.

Overall each team did very well, and will hopefully compete again next year.
