Track Season Kicks Off

On Friday, March 9 the track team had their first meet down at Polk County High School to start off the 2018 season.

The Women’s 4×800 team with runners: Sophomore Tristen Berry, Freshman Emma Berry, Freshman Andy McKibbon, and Junior Alyssa Lefler finishing in first place with a time of 10:58. Junior Lillie Siniard finished first place in the mile with a time of 5:54, finishing second was Sophomore Madeline Dierauf running a 5:56, and in third place, Senior Ava Findlay with a time of 5:57.

Junior Noah Schoenacher finished 2nd in the Boy’s 800 running a time of 2:05, Junior Aylssa lefler finished first in the Girl’s 800 with a time of 2:37, Junior Celia Richmond placed second in the Girl’s 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:04, Sophomore Isabell Musser placed first place in the Girl’s discuss places throwing 88 feet, and Junior Toby Hunter got second in the Girl’s 2 mile running a time of 13:39

“Some goals would definitely be to try to win another state title or get allstate and just improve overall” said state winner Will Coye in his track interview, “Since our Senior leadership last year Noah Graham, and Andrew Robinson left we struggled for a bit of time but we got together as a team and we all improved overall.”

State winner Madeline Dierauf said in her interview, “I think in order for us to be successful this season we just need to remember that we’re a team, and that we love each other, and we need to work together and help each other out.”

The track team will be competing at T.C. Roberson on Friday, March 16th with the throwing events starting at 4:00 pm, and running event starting at 4:30 pm.
