It takes a particular type of person to lead the masses. The leader walks in front, speaking for the majority and sharing the burdens of the people. A leader has to make the right decision for the masses while being sensitive to the concerns of the individual.

Allie Williams is the student body president at Brevard High School and she works with the student government and faculty to support her fellow classmates. Williams stated that her position was worthwhile and very rewarding. “I like the ability to make a difference.’

In her role as student body president, Williams gained a unique perspective working with both staff and students. She was impressed with the school spirit this year, however, feels concerned the students care less and less about learning. Williams works with the staff for planning and events and is impressed with how much they care about the students. In contrast, Williams feels that some of the faculty, themselves have lost their enthusiasm for teaching and overlook the importance of education.

In conclusion, Williams works with the staff and the student government to make Brevard High School a better place for the students. Williams places great emphasis on education and feels that teachers play an invaluable role in children’s lives. Williams goes on to say, “I think teachers have the most important job in the world.”
