After being postponed numerous times due to snowy weather, the annual BHS Talent Show was held last Monday, March 2nd, in the school auditorium. Many students, parents, and community members came to enjoy a diverse lineup of performances.

Organized by the Advanced Theater class, the evening began with individual or group acts. Students displayed numerous talents, such as singing, dancing, performing a pantomime, and even playing a live DJ set. The first place award for the night went to seniors Nicole Miller and Brandon Zerressen for their duet performance of “Your Love is All Around”. Following them with second place was freshman Daniel Toole for his banjo performance of “Foggy Mountain Breakdown” and senior Madeline Jones earned the third place award for her display of tap-dancing talent.

To end the program, a Battle of the Bands competition was held between two student-lead bands. Love 52, led by Zerressen, senior Sam Bartles, and freshman Ben Brewer, performed an original song entitled “Hand and Heart”. They were followed by the band Rouge, which was made up of Miller, seniors Jose Perez and Caleb Spradlin, and sophomores Quinn Babb and Andy Dial. With their performance of Paramore’s “Decode”, Rouge took home the first place prize.

Directed by theater teacher Candice Owen, the show was run by stage managers Zerressen and senior Aly Pagano, with help from the technical crew of senior Kelsie Koffman, senior Brent Boehmer, and junior Madeleine Lefler.

Emceed again by English teacher Josh Tinsley, the show was initially faced with multiple technical difficulties. Though there were malfunctioning microphones and audio problems during the first few acts of the night, the tech crew was able to quickly solve the problems and the show continued without any other hitches.
