New plans have been made that could potentially give skateboarders in Brevard a new place to hang out.

Ever since Zero Gravity closed, things have not been the same for the skaters. Zero Gravity was a place of community and it allowed them get together and practice skating in a safe area. Once this closed, there was never an adequate local replacement for it and a lot of skaters found themselves without a place to skate. Sk8 Brevard has pushed for a change in things and, so far, they are making pretty good headway.

With some new plans involving Platt Architects designing ramp concepts and with people from the City of Brevard Planning Department and Parks and Recreation in Transylvania County on board, skaters at last are going to get a place to legally and safely skate.

In a recent post on a social media website Kevin Smith wrote, “The ramp designs and others fit into a pocket park or along the greenway.” This means that the designs are easily adaptable for either of the places in consideration, whether it is along the new greenway or in Silverstein.
