Need help getting into the holiday spirit? Brevard High School’s band and chorus have just what you need.

The BHS band and chorus will put on their annual holiday concert this evening, Friday December 16, at seven at the Brevard College Porter Center.

This is the first time this year the chorus and band will perform together.

Jolene Osteen, a freshman in the BHS band is very excited for this year’s Christmas concert.

“I always loved watching the Christmas concert here at BHS year after year, so it’ll be an honor to finally take part in it,” Osteen said.

At the very beginning, the chorus will sing a processional. After the first two songs, the band will perform. The band and chorus will alternate performing.

Some of the songs that will be performed include “Sleigh Ride,” “Miniyama Nayo,” “O Come O Come Emmanuel,” and “Silent Night.”

Abby Smith, a junior and chorus officer will have a solo in “Silent Night.”

“I really enjoyed this arrangement. It’s kind of like a jazzy take on Silent Night, and I’m excited to see it come together,” said Smith.

Declan Lusk, a junior and chorus officer looks forward to performing “O Come O Come Emmanuel.”

“I’m very excited to sing ‘O Come O Come Emmanuel.’ Emily Sheffield will have the solo, but I’ll be background, assisting her,” Lusk said.

At the concert’s conclusion, the band and chorus will perform a holiday sing-along together. The audience will be encouraged to sing along, and holiday spirit is sure to be abundant.
