Ten Students To Attend District Band Clinic

On January 25, twenty of Brevard’s finest music students traveled to Tuscola high school to audition for the Western Carolina District Band. The audition consists of a solo and scales prepared in advance by the students, they then must play a piece of music only a minute after seeing it for the first time, which is called sightreading. Every student must spend hours practicing if they want to have a chance of making the band.

Of the twenty students who auditioned, half of them made it and will travel to Western Carolina University on February 9 and 10 to play in the band. We talked to John Nguyen and Madison Allen, who both placed first chair on the bass clarinet and alto saxophone respectively. Congratulations to not only these students but all ten who made it into the band, the others who made the band are listed below.

Congratulations to all who auditioned and especially those who made it!
