Art Guild creates community, encourages creativity

By Beth DeMoss

Art Guild is a club that is designed to make BHS more beautiful through art and companionship. This year Art Guild will participate in multiple events including contributing and installing art pieces such as murals throughout the school.

Art Guild usually meets on Thursdays after school in Mr. Parrish’s room.

Art Guild will accept applications at the beginning of the second semester.

In order to be in Art Guild, students must be enrolled in an art class that year or have taken at least Art I in the past. It is crucial that students who join the club are passionate about the visual arts and will be willing to dedicate time to the club.

At the beginning of each semester interested students fill out an application and submit 2 art pieces to Mr. Parrish, the club’s sponsor. The officers, along with Mr. Parrish, evaluate applications and decide whether to invite candidates to become members.

“I love Art Guild because we are our own little family. While contributing and volunteering with the school and other organizations, we give an outlet for kids who are passionate about art in an environment that appreciates it. By the end of the year, we end up becoming best friends. It is nice to have a club in the school where people of similar interests can come together and create something beautiful using the talent they were given!” said Mary McKeller, senior and Art Guild president.
